Preventative care is anything we can do to help maintain good oral health. This includes brushing your teeth twice a day, flossing once a day, going to the dentist twice a year for cleanings, and getting cavity detecting x-rays once a year starting around age three. Dental sealants are another preventative service we recommend for most children aged six and up.
What are sealants?
A dental sealant is a thin, protective coating that is placed on the permanent molars. The sealant helps to ensure harmful, cavity causing bacteria does not get stuck in the deeper grooves of the teeth. In most cases, sealants are covered at 100% by your dental insurance but coverage will need to be confirmed for your specific policy.
